A FEW THOUGHTS ON TODAYS READING...
The movie, "Unplanned" exposes the horrible truth behind the abortion industry and Planned Parenthood from an insider perspective. The movie centers on the true story behind the former program director of a Texas Planned Parenthood, Abby Johnson. She begins the movie stating that most find it inconceivable that she was truly that ignorant and naive, but she was. Her turn around moment or moment of truth occurred when rather than simply counsel women from the outside, she was actually asked to assist in the performance of a procedure. Holding the ultrasound probe for a callous physician who jokingly said, "Beam me up, Scotty", she witnessed directly in front of her eyes, the baby trying to move away from the abortionist's suction device only to lose the fight with no where to hide as the baby is literally pulled in and dismembered before her eyes. I don't believe there was a dry eye in the audience as the harsh reality of what transpires was played before all of our eyes. Abby Johnson soon left this life in the abortion industry and exposed many of the truths behind it. Bernard Nathanson, author of , "The Hand of God", who was one of the leading abortionists in the 1960's-1970's had a similar transformation after using the technology of ultrasound for the first time and witnessing for the first time what actually took place in this procedure.
Many falsely believe that being naive or ignorant is a valid excuse for living a life apart from God and believing they deserve no consequences for their actions. The son of Saul, Ishbosheth, is murdered. The murderers believing they have done a good thing bring the severed head to King David, as we read in 2 Samuel 4:9-12, "..."As the Lord lives, who has redeemed my life from all adversity, when someone told me, saying, 'Look, Saul is dead', thinking to have brought good news, I arrested him and had him executed in Ziklag - the one who thought I would give him a reward for his news. How much more when wicked men have killed a righteous person in his own house on his own bed? Therefore, shall I now require his blood at your hand and remove you from the earth?" So David commanded his young men, and they executed them...".
That these men ignorantly thought they were doing good was no excuse for their actions. In chapter 6, David excitedly desires to bring the ark of God to Jerusalem. In ignorance, he chooses to do so using the method in which was delivered to them by the Philistines, on a cart, rather than the method that is carefully described in God's Word on poles on the shoulders of the Levites. As a result, we read the tragic event in 2 Samuel 6:6-7, "And when they came to Nachon's threshing floor, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled. Then the anger of the Lord was aroused against Uzzah, and God struck him there for his error; and he died there by the ark of God."
Living in a naive state in utter ignorance is not a defense for disobedience. We can choose to dig our heads in the sand or believe the lies spewed out by supposed "experts". But one day each of us will come before our Holy and Righteous Judge, and there will be nowhere to hide. As opposed to the cruel abortionist's device where in the uterus there is nowhere for the defenseless baby to hide, we will likewise have no place to hide before our loving and gracious Judge, who though full of grace and mercy is also fully just. Acknowledging our sins and repenting of them during this life and accepting the blood of Jesus to pay for all of our sins will enable God's mercy and grace to prevail at our judgment. Choosing ignorance and living our lives in our own little bubbles, ignorantly believing that our actions have no real consequences, will unfortunately bring most before their Judge where justice will have to be served. We can choose to listen to our professors, our "experts" on the media, our politicians, etc. But when all is said and done, they will not be there to help us as we stand all alone. There is absolutely no excuse to be ignorant about the Word of God. It is available in many easy to read formats, in everyone'e language, in written form and on the computer. Being ignorant to the truth of God's Word is a choice. May we boldly encourage all in our mission fields to end their ignorance and pick up the only Book that has the power to enlighten and save. Father, I pray that you will draw me into your Word this day and give me understanding as I seek Your face. In the mighty name of Yeshua, Amen!
THIS WEEKS MEMORY VERSE
I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. ~Luke 15:7

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
Many a preacher is now in hell who had a hundred times called upon his hearers to use the utmost care and diligence to escape it.
