A FEW THOUGHTS ON TODAYS READING...
God’s creation offers so many opportunities to open up a conversation with unbelievers about Him.
In 2 Samuel 17, Absalom has two advisors with completely different views. Ahithophel went first in 17:1-4, and knowing David for so many years offered advice that would have crushed David and the opposition. Hushai, who was really working for David, offered his advice in 17:5-14. Feeding Absalom’s pride, to his downfall he chose to follow Hushai’s advice. Two respected men, two opinions, one decision had to be made. There are multiple sources, which do we choose. If Absalom ever truly consulted with God rather than himself and his assembled advisors, he would not only have never found himself in the position he was in, but he would have received true advice rather than just opinions.
God has placed us in the center of His creation. It doesn’t matter what we do in life, God’s creation can be a springboard into presenting God’s truth through His creation and His Word to an unbelieving world. We need only open our eyes and the opportunities are endless. As Paul said to Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” In general, we often choose not to move forward in these opportunities not because they don’t exist but out of fear of the response. Also, we must never forget our purpose is only to plant seeds of the gospel truth. We can’t force anyone to believe. When someone accepts, we should be blessed to know that God was able to use us, but Paul reminded us in 1 Corinthians 3:6-7, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.” Ultimately everyone has a choice as to which sources they will trust and rely on. The majority believe in moral relativism and secular humanism believing in no such thing as absolute truth. They believe in debate and either allowing their intellect or society to decide right from wrong. But we have a Book, written by 40 authors, in 3 different languages, which was written over 1400 years which does not contradict itself. We have the only book with absolute and very specific prophecies which have been fulfilled. We have the only source which has been proven archaeologically, historically, textually, etc. So may we all embrace the only true source, His Word, as we live out our lives in His creation, and move forward with the only message with the power to save this unbelieving world. May we be obedient to His commission for us in Matthew 28:18-20, not getting frustrated or dismayed when His message seems to fall on deaf ears.
THIS WEEKS MEMORY VERSE

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
No man is interested in a piece of good news unless he has the consciousness of needing it; no man is interested in an offer of salvation unless he knows that there is something from which he needs to be saved.
