A FEW THOUGHTS ON TODAYS READING...
We read in Numbers 6:22-27, "And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: "Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, 'This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them: The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.'" So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them." We read a little later in Numbers 7:89, "Now when Moses went into the tabernacle of meeting to speak with Him, he heard the voice of One speaking to him from above the mercy seat that was on the ark of the Testimony, from between the two cherubim; thus He spoke to him."
All of us who go to church have a pastor, a priest, or a minister who leads the congregation. They have been given the spiritual gifts of teaching and leadership. But what we can never forget is that what they are is fellow priests. We read in 1 Peter 2:9, "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;". We are no less God's representatives than they are.
Likewise, though Moses heard directly from God at the mercy seat, when our Savior died for our sins on the cross, we read in Matthew 27:51, "Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom...". As a result, like Moses, we too have direct access to God. So, as his fellow priests how do we see the world? He sees only two categories: saved and unsaved. When we are willing to accept our position as priests and see the world as God does, then and only then will we begin to see our opportunities that present themselves every day. Father, I pray that you will open my eyes to where you are working around me and compel me to join you. I pray that you will give me wisdom, words and discernment to minister to whomever you place in my path. I know that I can do nothing of eternal value in my own strength so I will look to you each day to guide me and direct my steps. In the glorious name my Lord and King, Jesus Christ (Yeshua). Amen!
